About Me:

Welcome! My name is Dr. Lisa Hanasono (she, her, hers), and I am an associate professor in the School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) where I have the joy of teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. I am also an affiliated member of the American Culture Studies Program and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at BGSU. As a communication scholar, I investigate issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Currently, I am working on several research projects that examine how faculty and administrators can make institutions of higher education more equitable, diverse, and inclusive.

I enjoy making meaningful connections between my work as a communication scholar and leader through the delivery of keynote presentations, research talks, professional development workshops, and program development. I also love serving as the Academic Director of Training, Certified Workshop Facilitator, and Faculty Success Program Coach for the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity. In addition, I am a mama and stepmom. My stepdaughter Alexis is pursuing her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University, and my toddler son Sean loves music, books, dinosaurs, and dancing. I enjoy spending time with my family, riding my horse Tater Tot, listening to Broadway music, experimenting with new recipes, and batch cooking.
